Job Roles - Stage Crew ( What I need to achieve in order to be the most successful I can be in my job role)

In my role as part of the stage crew there are many things I need to do in order to be successful and efficient.  For example:

1. I will attempt to work with the ASM to create a pre show check-list that will be through and will ensure that everything is to the highest standard it can be before the show starts. This will help to ensure that the show runs smoothly. I attempted to develop this idea by creating a draft of the check-list and sending it to the ASM so he could check it and develop it with the SM. I then asked the SM to delegate jobs to the crew on each night to make sure everything was done.

2. I will also try and help with stage props and hand props in any way I can to make sure that everyone had what they need to certify that their is full continuity throughout the show. I realised this idea by helping to writ a props que list during the tech rehearsal as the Props Master was unable to attend the tech. This allowed for no time to be wasted and for things to fall behind which would have hindered the efficiency of the props table and stage props.

3. I will also try to be part of a stage crew that has the highest level of comradery and communication to provide a strong backbone to any of the shows problems or faults. I realised this by helping out every member of the crew of anyone was absent or was unable to attend, I also made sure that everyone felt they knew what their job entailed and was able to have something to do at all times when the SM or ASM was detained in another job. I however did this in a supportive manor to ensure that everyone felt happy and comfortable in their role this ensured that their was no misunderstandings or arguments which would have deteriorated the efficiency of the stage crew.

4. I will also try to be on hand for costume changes as I have read in the script that their are many. For example after the ensemble has sung another one bites the dust they have to change from their black costumes  into their bohemian ones in 30 seconds. I will try to help with this the best I can so that this very quick change is possible. I realised this by being asked by the Costume manager to help a member of the cast during the costume change from the blacks to the bohemian costumes as their costume was particularly tricky to get on in time and which meant that on the first night she was late for her que, but after I helped her on the last two nights she was able to get their in enough time.

5. I will also try to take the initiative if someone is absent or busy I will try and help them with their job role as best as I can as it is part of the stage crews requirements to be as helpful as possible. This will make sure that everything is prepared and ready on time. I realised this by always asking the SM if anything was needing to be done but also taking the initiative and sorting out anything that needed to be done. For example I checked over all of the spaces to make sure they were clean, I helped the Props Master with any missing props and collected props after the show if they had not been returned to the props table. I also helped clean the hall way and stairs when I child was sick. I did this as quickly as possible to make sure there was no delay in the show.
